The François Baclesse Centre is a cancer research and treatment centre located in Caen, Normandy, close to the D-Day Landing beaches and the Mont-Saint-Michel.  It is a private, non-profit healthcare establishment, which treats all patients with suspected or confirmed cancer. It does not apply private sector fees, nor does it charge in excess of conventional fees. As a member of the Unicancer network, our values are: humanism, excellence, innovation and solidarity.

Various treatment modalities can be performed at the Centre, alone or in combination: medical treatment, surgery and radiotherapy.

Since 2018, the François Baclesse Centre is the third French centre to be authorised to perform adult and child proton therapy, via national and international recruitment.

We have one of the most comprehensive support services in France, designed to personalise and improve the quality of life of patients during and after treatment.

Description of support or specific features

In addition to its care mission, the centre is also has an important research mission (clinical, fundamental and transfer research), as well as university training in oncology for students in health-related courses and continuing education for health professionals.

The Centre is certified level A (the highest) by the Haute Autorité de Santé, accredited at European level by the OECI, and by EUSOMA for the treatment of breast cancer.

Biopathology and oncopharmacology

The Pathology, Oncogenetics and Cancer Biology and Genetics departments, grouped together in the Biopathology Department, are developing a common strategy focused on personalised medicine. This department is COFRAC certified.

Personalised treatments are manufactured on site, within the hospital pharmacy's oncological preparation unit.
