Neurology

Description of support or specific features

A specific pathway dedicated to acute cerebrovascular accidents has been set up since 2007. Neurological care is provided and allows us to deal with Cerebral Vascular Accidents 24 hours a day.

A programmed activity accounts for the other half of the stays, including day hospitalisation for various pathologies.

In addition, the state-of-the-art simulation centre at the Foch Hospital has a high-performance brain surgery simulator that is unique in France, a valuable tool for the training and education of neurosurgeons.

Sustained activity making the AMP Foch Centre one of the most important in the country.

The AMP centre in Foch was completed in 2018 :
- More than 15,000 fertility consultations
- 1,250 oocyte punctures
- 1,100 frozen embryo transfers

This growth in activity, which places the Foch Centre amongst the 5 most important in the country, has been accompanied by an improvement in the course of care in all these stages.

However, the primary objective remains the improvement of the chances of pregnancy, as the maternal age at the time of first care is higher every year. On average, the first ovarian puncture is nowadays performed at the age of 36 and over.

Thus, the pregnancy rate after the first transfer is 33% for all ages, over 50% for patients under 36 years of age and over 60% for those under 30 years of age.

Description of support or specific features

The year 2018 saw the birth of the tailor-made fertility assessment programme: the "One Day Fertility".

This innovative programme allows couples to assess their fertility by combining medical consultations on a single day. The results of this global exploration are given and explained during a clinico-biological consultation and sent to the treating and referring doctors.

Foch's urology ward is known to be regularly quoted among the best in France in weekly newspapers such as Le Point, Le Nouvel Observateur or more recently in the magazines called Capital or Sciences et Avenir.

This success is not only due to the excellence of the practising doctors and the "high-tech" technical platform, but also to the professionalism and dedication of the nurses, the secretary-assistants, the nursing assistants and the management.

Description of support or specific features

The entire ward provides more than 10,000 consultations per year, with 3,600 hospitalisations for around 3,500 surgical operations.

With three major studies in progress and many other projects, our team has established itself as one of the main players in French urology research for bladder, prostate and kidney cancer.

Our work is regularly presented and cited at international congresses. This research activity is in fact closely linked to the intensity of clinical activity.

Description of support or specific features

At Foch Hospital, the care offered by the cardiology department is based on three areas: consultations, explorations and hospitalisations.

Cardiology consultations

Our cardiologists are available for general cardiology consultations (treatment and follow-up of arterial hypertension, heart failure, coronary diseases, etc.) and for rhythmology consultations (management of heart rhythm disorders, monitoring of pacemakers, etc.).

Functional explorations

This area covers examinations aimed at diagnosing cardiac diseases. These examinations most often use imaging techniques. These techniques are of two types:

Non-invasive techniques :

Transthoracic, transesophageal and stress ultrasound (stress and dobutamine);
Stress testing;
Rhythmic Holter ;
Cardiac MRI (morphological and stress).

Invasive techniques (requiring vessel puncture):

Coronary angiography and angioplasty;
Electrophysiological investigations.
