The American magazine Newsweek published its annual ranking of the world’s best hospitals, based on research by Statista. This edition features several members of French Healthcare Association.
With data collected by Statista, the American news magazine Newsweek has published its 2023 ranking of the world’s best hospitals. The presence of several French Healthcare Association members in this ranking demonstrates not only the excellence of our network’s healthcare facilities, but also their ongoing commitment to international quality standards. For example, the Saint-Joseph and Marie Lannelongue hospitals (for the sixth time in a row!), the Gustave Roussy, Montsouris and Curie institutes, and the Rothschild Foundation have all been rewarded for the quality of their care, in various specialties.
A yearly refined evaluation process
The opinions of over 80,000 healthcare professionals were gathered in order to obtain an overview of the quality of these facilities, supplemented by patient satisfaction questionnaires. These questionnaires, which Measure Patient-Reported Outcomes (PROMs), were used for the first time in this year’s calculation, and provide an insight into what defines international hospitals quality in 2023. A necessary addition for this ranking to reflect current trends, as patient-focused approaches in healthcare systems are increasingly gaining international approval. Estimating the added-value delivered by each facility to its patients, particularly in terms of well-being and quality of life, has become a key indicator for modern hospital assessment.
With these principles, Newsweek published two rankings – one presenting the 250 best hospitals in the world across all disciplines, and the other showing the best international hospitals sorted by different specialties.
